Account Security

If you sign in to the Akuity Platform with an email address and password, follow these practices to keep your account safe.

info

This feature is only available on SaaS and not available on Self-Hosted.

note

If you sign in with SSO or a social login (Google, GitHub), your password is managed by that provider. Follow your company's or provider's password guidance.

Turn on MFA

Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your account from Your Account. With MFA, a stolen password alone can't be used to access your account. You can do this yourself, even if your organization doesn't require MFA.

Use a strong, unique password

  • Use at least 12 characters.
  • Don't reuse a password from another site.
  • Use a password manager to generate and store it.

Change your password regularly

If you sign in with a password only (no MFA or SSO), change your password at least every 90 days.

When to change your password immediately

Change your password right away if any of the following happens:

  • You think your password or account has been compromised, or you see sign-in activity you don't recognize.
  • Your password may have been seen, shared, or typed on an untrusted device or site.
  • You entered your password on a suspicious page or after a phishing email.
  • A service where you used the same password had a data breach.
  • Akuity or your organization owner asks you to change it.

How to change your password

If you're signed in:

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner and click Your Account.
  2. Click Reset Password, then click Send link.
  3. Follow the link in the email to set a new password.

If you can't sign in:

  1. On the login page, click Can't log in to your account?
  2. Enter your email address and click Continue.
  3. Follow the link in the email to set a new password.

If you suspect your account is compromised

  1. Change your password.
  2. Click your avatar in the top-right corner and click Your Account, then click Logout of All Sessions. This signs you out everywhere, including on other devices, so you'll need to sign in again.
  3. Email security@akuity.io with a description of what happened and any relevant details, and let your organization owner know. You can also find security contact details and policies in the Akuity Trust Center.
